Apple's stock value and iPhone satisfaction among smartphone users is falling, and the company's rare computers continue to be sold at a record price. Worker Apple-1, released in 1976, was auctioned on Saturday in Germany for a record $ 671,400, including taxes.
About the deal in an interview with the American newspaper The New York Times told the owner of Auction Team Breker Uwe Breker. This amount is a record for the first Apple computer. Last November, an identical Apple-1 was sold for $ 640,000 at the same auction in Cologne, Germany. The previous record was set in the walls of Sotheby’s auction house in New York - $ 374,500 for a personal computer with a rich history.
The high cost of ancient computers is explained not only by the historical value of the thing, but also by the mysticism that shrouds the life of Apple and its founders. It is said that the model sold at auction was assembled by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in the Jobs family garage. A computer with low capabilities was initially sold at a price of $ 666 (today it is about $ 2,700). In total, 200 Apple-1 computers were assembled in the garage. To date, there are only six working copies available.
“The cost of the transaction confirms the value of Apple-1,” says Brecker.
According to the auctioneer, the large entrepreneur from the Far East who wished to remain incognito became the buyer of the rare machine.
