With Raspberry Pi microcomputers and similar things, only the lazy one is not indulging now. On their basis, many media centers, robots and other devices have been created. Where less often there are laptops, especially the size of a pocket toy Nintendo 3DS. Just it was created by electronic enthusiast Chris Robinson.
The miniature laptop is based on the Raspberry Pi 2 card, runs on battery power, has 3 USB ports, 1 Ethernet connector, a QWERTY keyboard and a color LCD touchscreen. The case of the laptop does not belong to 3DS, it is made by hand from two cheap cases for hard disks, which, despite its dimensions, was able to accommodate everything you need.
In order to arrange all this, I had to work with a soldering iron and remove all the connectors and protruding parts from the board, and then, after soldering them in a suitable way, insert them into the holes cut on the body by a stationery knife.
Modifications touched the keyboard, which was originally supplied with its own battery. The power source had to be removed in favor of the design, but the input device could be powered from the laptop battery. The device can be connected to the monitor for convenience. All this works on Raspbian, a Debian distribution optimized for working with Raspberry Pi.
The creation of the gadget cost the craftsman $ 120. But he now has a micro-notebook on which you can watch movies, play, and if you want, even go to the Internet and work.
