Valve revealed the technical characteristics of its Steam Machine

Valve has decided to share the technical details about their project Steam Machine, which it announced at the end of last September. Recall that the company is going to release a small batch of prototypes of gaming systems, which it will send to the test the first 300 lucky ones.

Valve explained that the test instances of the Steam Machine system will be based on either an Intel i7-4770 processor, or an i5-4570 processor, or an i3 chip. As for the graphic basis, either NVIDIA Titan, or GTX780, or GTX760 or GTX660 will play the main role here. The company wants to test the performance of all configurations and find the most optimal. However, here it should be clarified that according to the plan Valve prefix should not be from one manufacturer.

RAM for Steam Machine will allocate as much as 16 GB. It will be DDR3-1600 standard. Another 3 GB of GDDR5 memory will be allocated for the graphics subsystem. For storing games and loading the system, a hybrid SSHD-drive with a capacity of 1 TB and 8 GB of flash memory is provided. The entire system will be powered by a 450-watt power supply with a certificate of performance 80Plus Gold.

The size of the Steam Machine will be 30.4 x 31.4 x 7.3 cm.

We want to test not only our own options, but also look at options from other manufacturers. As part of our own prototypes of the Steam Machine (the first 300 pieces for Steam users), we decided to offer something special: the prototypes will be very powerful, productive and built on the basis of the most modern computer hardware. ”
