Canadian tabloid Toronto Sun published a story that shocked many of his readers. The usual 12-year-old resident of Montreal helped Anonymous hacker group to hack the websites of government agencies, which he admitted only months later.

Let us remind you that the Anonymous group was formed in 2008 by volunteer hackers (the so-called “hacktivists”) from different countries who oppose corporations and government organizations that interfere with the development of the Internet or try in one way or another to restrict the freedom of dissemination of information in the World Wide Web . It was Anonymous who once opposed the persecution of Julian Assange and brought down the sites of the payment systems PayPal, Visa and Mastercard for refusing to accept donations in support of it. Anonymous repeatedly hacked into sites with child pornography and laid out in public access the names of registered users. They organized cyber attacks on the Egyptian government and the European Parliament, intercepted the secret negotiations of the FBI and the secret services of Great Britain. Hackers did not even notice religious organizations, at one point dropping the official website of the Vatican in protest against the corruption of the modern Roman Catholic Church.

From time to time, some members of the hacker group were calculated and arrested, and some were even imprisoned upon the conclusion of the court. But due to the fact that Anonymous fully justifies its name, and the members of the group know almost nothing about each other, it is simply impossible to cover all the participants of this movement at once.

A 12-year-old resident of Montreal, based on his own testimony, during the time of cooperation with the Anonymous group, managed to crack the website of the Montreal police, the Quebec Institute of Health, the website of the Government of Chile, as well as several other sites. The boy explained that he had no political motivation. He just collected on the hacked servers all the available information and passed it on to Anonymous’s managers in exchange for the video games that they sent him in gratitude. In addition to collecting information, the young hacker was engaged in disabling some sites, as well as modifying their home pages at the request of his leadership.

A Canadian court estimates the damage caused by the boy at about $ 60,000. And the verdict in his case will be delivered only next month. No matter how ironic it may sound, the young hacker remains “anonymous” even after he made a frank confession in his wrongdoings. After all, according to the rules of Canada, the names of juvenile offenders are prohibited to disclose publicly.
