Major analytical agencies Gartner and IDC sounded the alarm. And for this really there is a serious reason. Sales of personal computers in 2015 rapidly declined compared with the previous fiscal year. The main reason for the PC market crisis, according to experts, is ... Are you ready? Fast release of the operating system Windows 10.
Surprising, but true. Analysts say that on the eve of the release of the new Microsoft operating system, many people save money to buy a new computer with Windows 10 pre-installed on it. The second most important reason for the drop in demand for personal computers is a sharp jump in the US dollar rate in many countries around the world. Prices for computers soared, which made it difficult to grow the market in the near future.
Chief analyst of Gartner company Mikako Kitagawa believes that the slow growth in sales of personal computers will begin around 2016. But in 2015, this market must withstand an uneasy test of strength. At the same time, so that you understand the seriousness of the situation, take a look at this table, which shows the quantitative sales of personal computers of the main market players.
To computers in this case are even mobile tablets-transformers with a keyboard connected to them. But even taking into account their sales, the total number of PCs sold for the second quarter of 2015 does not reach 70 million. And such a sad situation is now developing around the world. Sales fell for the quarter on average by 9.5%, which is considered a serious blow to this market. Even in the successful North America, sales fell by 5.8%, which is about 15 million computers.
No matter how sad, the smallest losses in this situation were suffered by Lenovo and Dell. Acer and Asus were the hardest hit: sales of the first decreased by 20.2%, and the second - by 10.2%. Let's hope that this crisis will end in the near future and computer manufacturers will be able to stay afloat.
