Earlier in the US, the research program of the "Strategic Computer Initiative" (NSCI) was adopted, the task of which is to support the development of new computer technologies and the development of new exaflop computers that will allow the country to perform well in a high-tech arms race.

The new supercomputer will be designed and developed by the federal government, and then used in a wide variety of areas. One such field of application will be, for example, NASA.
