In recent years, I began to spend more time in front of the screens of monitors and TVs. This is primarily due to my professional activities. When you are a journalist, you want it or not, but every day for several hours in a row you gain huge volumes of texts, edit them and "comb your hair." In other words, the monitor becomes your personal workspace. Add here many hours of games, to which I regularly have to write reviews for our site. At some point, I began to seriously think about the safety of my eyes. Recently, I quite accidentally came across special computer glasses, reducing the strain on the eyes when working at a computer and passing video games. I would very much like to tell you about them today.
At the end of September, working at the exhibition "IgroMir 2017", I came across a small stand where computer glasses of several well-known manufacturers were presented. After reading about them on the Internet, I was genuinely interested: is this solution able to protect the eyes of the user of the computer and the gamer from fatigue and other unpleasant effects associated with hours of stress? Deciding to conduct the experiment, I got myself three pairs of such glasses and carefully studied them in the case for a whole month. Having formed a detailed opinion about each model, I am ready to share my experience with our readers. Well, let's go!
Arozzi Visione VX-800
The first in this review consider the Visione VX-800 glasses produced by the Swedish company Arozzi. It was founded in 2013 and is well known among European gamers thanks to a wide range of ergonomic chairs produced by it, as well as other useful video game accessories. It is the quality of life of gamers that Swedes put on the first place, in the process of designing and creating their products. Computer glasses from their point of view are also extremely important for a comfortable game in front of a TV or monitor.
Packing glasses Visione VX-800 is made in a simple style and is sustained in black and red tones. Thick cardboard reliably protects the contents during transportation, and a transparent plastic insert allows you to get acquainted with the glasses without removing them from the box.
The back surface of the package contains a brief description of the advantages of glasses in English and French.
Inside the box, I found an instruction that, in addition to several European languages, contained information in Russian, which is very nice. However, there is not much information there, and most of it is duplicated from the back of the package of glasses.
That's the glasses themselves. To begin with, I would like to talk about their design. Aluminum-magnesium frame immediately gives the impression of a premium product. Nothing in these glasses hangs, does not flinch and does not lyuftit. They are just nice to hold in their hands.
The nozzles on the handles are made of high-quality lightweight plastic, which reduces the weight of the design and avoids contact of your ears with cold metal. By the way, the weight of the glasses is only 33 grams, so that you practically do not feel them on the head.
The glasses are equipped with two adapting nose pads, which are ideal for any shape and size of the nose. It's very nice that the bundled Visione VX-800 comes with an extra pair of nosepads in case you suddenly decide to update them.
This model looks very impressive thanks to a combination of white and red colors, as well as a modern ergonomic design. However, I would not say that such a color scheme will suit everyone without exception. She will be more to the face of girls than men. On the manufacturer's website, I found many other models of all colors and shapes, from which anyone can choose something for themselves.
Unexpectedly pleased with the configuration of glasses. It was especially nice to find in the box a durable case for carrying and storing. It's a little cumbersome, but inside the glasses there will definitely not be anything to threaten: no dust, no moisture, no strikes.
In addition to the hard case, the kit also includes a tissue bag with strings, a cloth for cleaning lenses, two spare nosoupores and a special metal key for adjusting the arches. What can I say? Really great bundle for your money. There are such points in the Russian market 5990 rubles.
Now let's talk about the technical characteristics of the Arozzi Visione VX-800. The manufacturer claims that the glasses are capable of blocking 50% of the short waves of the blue spectrum in the frequency range from 400 to 500 nanometers. The coldest light emitted by most modern electronic displays, televisions, smartphones, tablets and other gadgets. And yes, we all know that the color temperature in some cases can be adjusted in the device settings. Some monitors allow this to be done using the menu, and there is a thing like the Night Shift on the iPhone. But what to do in those cases when such options are not available to us or the user simply does not want to bother with unnecessary settings? It is at such moments that computer glasses come to the rescue.
Visione VX-800 lenses are coated with a 7-layer photosensitive coating, which not only blocks 99.8% of ultraviolet radiation, but also minimizes the glare of the screens. Points on the move adapt to ambient lighting, making the picture on the display as clear and contrasting as possible. They can eliminate the strain of the eye muscles and fatigue of the eyes with a long work behind the monitor or a prolonged tense video game. In addition, glasses minimize such unpleasant effects as dryness and irritation of the eyes, due to the fact that they retain a part of the moisture evaporating from their surface. The manufacturer separately mentions in the manual that the Visione VX-800 has passed the European CE certification, as well as American certification in the FDA (Food and Drug Administration).
However, computer glasses from Sweden have some contraindications. For example, if you have poor eyesight, they are unlikely to help you at work or during a video game. Because their lenses do not contain diopters and can not properly adjust your vision. But if you wear contact lenses - this can be a good solution to the problem. It is not recommended to wear glasses for more than three hours at the first use. Everything is like a virtual reality: you need to get used to the accessory a little. Well, the last restriction - glasses are not recommended to be worn while driving. Although they cut off some of the glare from the headlights (I checked this on myself), still their main purpose is not at all in this. Points are perfect for those people who undergo rehabilitation after therapeutic or surgical vision correction. They will protect the eyes from harmful radiation for them and allow a person to gradually return to the system.
Using the Visione VX-800 glasses for a month, I'm very used to them. My eyes from a constant set of texts really began to get tired much less. The only thing I would attribute to the minuses of such glasses is the fact that when they cut the blue spectrum of the monitor's radiation, leaving only warm tones, it starts to tinker a bit. It is on this feature of light waves that the Night Shift technology developed at Apple is based. However, when you get good sleep and feel vigorous - this side effect is minimized. I also tried playing video games on TV with these glasses. But still, from the TV, my eyes and almost never got tired, so I did not notice a special increase in performance for myself personally. Although cyber sportsmen, who often play on PC monitors, would probably argue with me.
Pros:
- Glasses really reduce eye fatigue when working with the monitor for a long time.
- Stylish design, quality assembly and expensive body materials.
- A truly "rich" package that includes everything you need.
- Points will be useful to people who undergo rehabilitation after vision correction.
Minuses:
- Glasses can not be used for weak vision.
- From warm tones can sometimes sleep.
Gunnar Havok Onyx
The next model of points in my review will be Havok Onyx from the famous American manufacturer Gunnar. This company was founded in 2007 and over the past ten years has managed to prove itself very well in this segment of the market. Today the manufacturer closely cooperates with such well-known gaming companies as Razer, Blizzard, MLG, releasing its branded products, adapted for fans of different video games. A lot of famous cyber sportsmen, game streamers and other media people are actively using Gunnar points in world championships, as well as during work. In addition, Gunnar is the only company in the world that has patented its products, including spraying for lenses and special glasses for working with a computer. American doctors recommend these glasses to their patients, reinforcing their words with the results of official research by scientists conducted at the request of Gunnar, which also speaks a lot about the manufacturer and the seriousness of his approach to business. Walk past the brand with such fame and history, I just could not, that's why I chose glasses for myself and thoroughly studied them.
The packaging of glasses seemed to me too cheap, if you compare it with the model from Arozzi. It is made in the form of a plastic blister, where the glasses are fixed on the holders in the upper part, and the lower cardboard compartment is reserved for additional accessories.
The back of the box briefly lists the advantages of the model in English.
Havok Onyx glasses set me apart a little. In the kit I found only a bag for storage, yes kutsuyu instructions, part-time is a guarantee coupon. After a rich set, offered by Swedes from Arozzi, it all looks a bit loser. But what is rich, as they say. Better so than not at all.
But in terms of design, I liked the glasses much more than the model from Sweden. They are more masculine, if that's what you want. They are really not ashamed to appear in public, which I periodically did during numerous tests. I never wore glasses in my life (I have 100% vision), so the sharp change of image was extremely unusual. Compliments fell on me from all sides, which once again convinced me of the really high-quality design and sense of style inherent in American designers from Gunnar. In addition, I quickly got used to seeing the world in warm colors. Do you want it or not, but the proverb about "rose-colored glasses" in this case was realized. True, Gunnar glasses are not pink at all, but yellowish. The world seems more friendly when everything around you radiates an exceptionally warm light.
The metal frame made of aluminum and magnesium alloy is not corroded, it is light enough and looks very neat. Just look at these stylish, roughly polished handles - how can you resist and try to try on such glasses? Arches end, as in the case of the Arozzi model, with plastic nozzles for your comfort. You can hardly guess how much this whole structure weighs. Only 26 grams!
Earlier Gunnar actively cooperated with the German company Carl Zeiss, which produced high-quality lenses for it. It is rumored that the Americans simply stopped buying from the Germans a license to designate the manufacturer of optics, nevertheless the lenses for their glasses are still produced at the factories of this famous company.
Gunnar Havok Onyx lenses prevent drying out of eyes, reduce irritation and improve the clarity of details on the screen, reducing the load on the eye muscles. All this allows to win the so-called "computer visual fatigue syndrome" (the term appeared in the US in 1998), which affects many people who work with computers and other electronic displays. As a result, glasses enhance visual endurance, which allows you to better focus on work tasks or focus on a stressful video game. Given that modern people on average spend in front of the screen of the monitor and their smartphone from 8 to 10 hours a day, such glasses are simply necessary for some. The cost of this model points is 6290 rubles, which is not much more expensive than the solution from the Swedish manufacturer.
Fluorescent light haunts us everywhere. Displays, screens, monitors - where are we without them in the big city? Patented Gunnar lenses with protective coatings are designed to not create visual distortions, providing a clear and vivid picture. As with the Arozzi model, the Havok Onyx glasses block not only the blue-violet light spectrum, but also 100% ultraviolet radiation, improving the contrast, detailing and protecting your eyes from harmful external influences. 65% of the high-frequency blue light spectrum is exposed to the blocking (I recall that Arozzi has this indicator at around 50%) and unwanted glare of the screens. Well, the most pleasant moment is that people with poor eyesight can order Gunnar glasses with the diopters they need. The main thing is to know the features of your eyes and give the manufacturer a prescription from your ophthalmologist. Cost such a model will be more expensive by about 50% compared to those that are presented in official stores of the company, and delivery from the US will have to pay for it at your own expense.
During the month, I actively used Gunnar Havok Onyx glasses in my work, video games and even just getting out of the house with my friends. I must say that when you work behind a monitor, you start to notice the effect almost immediately. It really has become much easier for me to work with text and graphics processing in professional editors (the only thing that I had to peek out from time to time to check the real color of the image). During the walks in glasses, I noted for them only one drawback: at long distances (somewhere from 20 meters), the lenses still slightly distort the image, causing it to slightly double. So for the outings from the house Gunnar, unfortunately, are hardly suitable. I do not know, the disease is specifically my model or all the products of the American manufacturer. However, at close distances I did not notice such shortcomings.
Pros:
- Magnificent design that attracts the attention of people around you.
- Excellent materials and a really weightless design.
- To work and play in such glasses is really much more comfortable.
- Possibility to order glasses Gunnar with diopters from the manufacturer.
Minuses:
- The image at large distances begins to double a bit.
- Very "zhidenkaya" bundle.
SPG Gaming
The third point in my review was the model of the Russian manufacturer - the company SP Glasses (SPG) from the city of Korolev, which not so long ago launched a line of optics for gamers called SPG Gaming. The company produces several different models of glasses for a variety of target audiences. Including for those people who constantly works at the computer or adapts after a correction of vision. In 2000, in the development of these computer glasses, the famous ophthalmologist, eye surgeon and academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences Svyatoslav Nikolaevich Fyodorov took an active part. This project was the last for him, since it was in 2000 that he died in a plane crash, leaving behind a huge scientific legacy.
The packaging of glasses reminded me of a box of American Gunnar glasses. The same plastic blister, assembled according to a similar scheme.
Description of the main features of the glasses are placed on the underside of the box. Here you can find the address of the manufacturer and the full official name of the product: "Glasses for relaxation, combined, correcting with mineral and organic lens-light filters."
The set of glasses is rather modest: an instruction, a pouch for storage and a cloth for wiping dirt from the lenses. But here we should immediately make a reservation: the cost of the Russian model of points is only 1890 rubles, which is several times less than what the Swedes and Americans ask for their products.
The case of glasses is completely made of rough plastic, which at first glance feels very budgetary. But only at first glance. Gradually you come to the conclusion that this approach of the Russian manufacturer has its advantages. For example, the weight of points thanks to this is only 22 grams! They are practically weightless.
The design of the glasses is modest in comparison with the rest of the models, but it is very pleasant with these green and gold-plated inserts on the arches. And importantly, they almost perfectly fit almost on any face. I specifically asked my friends and acquaintances to try on all three pairs of glasses and tell me about their feelings. Russian glasses were unanimous in taste to all. Do you know what else can these glasses be? The instructions say that if you put plastic bowls in hot (not boiling!) Water for a few seconds, they can then be deformed with your fingers, adapting to the shape of your head. I did not try this technology, but I'm sure that those who want to experiment with such a modding will certainly be found.
As you may have noticed, SPG Gaming glasses are devoid of nasal restraints, which allows them to tighten their face as tightly as possible.
Pros:
- Очки практически невесомы и совершенно не ощущаются на голове.
- Из трёх моделей именно они защищают глаза от пересыхания лучше всего.
- SPG Gaming идеально подходит практически для любой формы лица.
- Крайне бюджетная цена по сравнению с зарубежными аналогами.
- Возможность изменить форму и длину дужек в домашних условиях.
- В разработке очков принял участие знаменитый российский академик.
Minuses:
