The South Korean industrial giant Samsung followed the example of the Japanese company Sony and on the eve of the release of the Windows 8 operating system officially announced the Series 5 ULTRA Touch ultrabook. The device was presented during the IFA 2012 exhibition and features a 13.3-inch touchscreen display with LED backlighting and a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.
At the moment, the hardware specifications of the two modifications of the Series 5 ULTRA Touch ultrabook are known. New items are based on the CPU Intel Core i5-3317U (1.7 - 2.6 GHz) or Core i3-3217U (1.8 GHz). The amount of RAM is 4 GB.
The storage subsystem of both modifications is represented by a hybrid HDD (500 GB hard drive and 24 NAND flash memories). The cost of Series 5 ULTRA Touch laptops, depending on the installed processor model, will be 850 (Core i5) and 800 (Core i3) dollars, respectively.
