During today's event, Apple showed the eighth generation iMac. The novelty will be released on the market in two versions: with a touch screen diagonal of 21.5 inches (resolution - 1920 x 1080 pixels) and 27 inches (2560 x 1440 pixels). Both screens have large viewing angles - 178 degrees. The thickness of the body at the edges is only 5 millimeters. The novelty is 80 percent thinner than its predecessors.
The 21.5-inch model of the new iMac is based on a quad-core CPU Intel Core i5 (2.7 GHz - 3.2 GHz) or Intel Core i5 (2.9 GHz - 3.6 GHz). At the heart of the older model is a quad-core Intel Core i5 (2.9 GHz - 3.6 GHz) or Intel Core i5 (3.2 GHz - 3.6 GHz).
The amount of RAM is 8 GB (2 DDR3-1600MHz memory modules), and the storage subsystem is based on a hard disk of up to 3 TB with a spindle speed of 5400 rpm. HDD can be easily replaced with an SSD as needed. It is worth mentioning the support of technology Fusion Drive, which is a combined hard disk of 1 or 3 TB and 128-gigabyte solid-state drives in an array. At the same time, the operating system and important software are located on the SSD, and user data on the HDD.
