The company iBuyPower, one of the largest collectors of personal gaming computers in the West, decided to submit a prototype of its version of the Steam Machine. At the first glance at his image it is difficult not to note that the system looks more like a game console than a personal computer. And what's interesting is that remote associations with the PlayStation 4 console immediately appear in your mind.
At the moment, a prototype of the Steam Machine from iBuyPower is under development and, it is likely that by the time of its release, which will take place in 2014, its appearance may slightly change.
Unfortunately, the company does not indicate which hardware it decided to use in its prototype, but reports that the system is running an earlier version of the Steam OS operating system from Valve. In addition, iBuyPower indicates that two versions of the Steam Machine are currently in development. Both have identical technical characteristics, but differ in terms of small design elements. The systems have the code names Gordon and Freeman, which received them in honor of the famous character in the game series Half Life. A light indicator is located on the top cover of one of the systems, the second model of the indicator light is not completely black.
iBuyPower has not yet announced either the price or the exact date on which its Steam Machine is on sale, however, we will likely find out more details about the system during the annual international exhibition CES, which will be held in January 2014, and where Valve is going to what to tell about your Steam OS.
“Thousands of games, millions of players. Everything you like so much on Steam will soon be available in a new and completely free operating system Steam OS specially designed for your living room. Wishing to bring Steam to your living rooms, we came to the conclusion that the best way would be to create a full-fledged ecosystem that will be formed around the Steam itself. Valve's SteamOS operating system, combining a solid Linux architecture base and endless gaming capabilities, is simply designed for a large screen. Very soon it will become available as a completely free operating system for gaming systems, ”reports Valve.
“On SteamOS, we have done a great job of optimizing and improving performance in graphic terms, and now we are engaged in improving the sound quality and speed of its work. Many game developers have already decided to support us and take advantage of all the opportunities SteamOS will offer in their new game titles. ”
