HP introduced the HP ENVY Rove 20, its first portable PC, made in the form factor monoblock. The device has a 20-inch screen and a built-in rechargeable battery, which makes it look like a huge tablet.

The HP ENVY Rove 20 is equipped with an IPS LED display with a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels and support for ten touch points. The model is implemented technology Beats Audio, which provides high-quality sound. Under the monoblock case is the fourth generation of Intel Core processors and Intel HD graphics. For ease of use, there is an adjustable stand at the back.

Why did HP choose such an unusual form factor? Ron Coughlin, senior vice president of HP consumer computing for the consumer market, explained this with these words:

Consumers are looking for mobility and flexibility in personal computing devices. To meet the growing needs of users, HP has developed a new generation of form factors. An example would be a portable monoblock Rove with unprecedented opportunities.

In addition to ENVY Rove 20, HP announced the HP Pavilion 20 TouchSmart and Pavilion 23 TouchSmart All-in-One PCs, HP Pavilion 11 TouchSmart Notebook and HP Pavilion 14 TouchSmart Sleekbook laptops. All four use touch pads and the Windows 8 operating system.

The HP ENVY 4500 All-in-One and HP 5530 e-All-in-One compact color MFPs with HP ePrint and HP wireless direct have completed the announcement. Managing printers can be done via iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

All monoblocks, with the exception of HP ENVY Rove 20, will go on sale in June. The cost of HP ENVY Rove 20 will be announced later. Prices for other models can be found on the official HP website.

HP is not the only company that is experimenting with various form factors. With no less share of creativity to their products approached Taiwanese Acer.
