Bill Gates: creating the Ctrl-Alt-Delete key combination was a mistake

ctrl-alt-del

Perhaps all owners of personal computers know the key combination "Control-Alt-Delete", which allows not only to call the "task manager", but also to get rid of some problems. However, Bill Gates believes that this combination is a mistake. Speaking at a financial lecture at Harvard University on September 21, he stated that the Ctrl-Alt-Delete combination was created contrary to the opinion of the main persons responsible for this.

“It was a mistake. We could hang this function on a single button. But the IBM guy who worked with the keyboard design decided to deprive us of this opportunity and not just use one button. ”

Thus, engineer David Bradley invented the famous combination of three keys “Ctrl”, “Alt” and “Delete”, which millions of computer owners use to call the “Task Manager” or lock the computer.

On the one hand, now it may seem to some (especially considering that people have become much lazier than before), that such a combination is completely inconvenient and requires more effort to accomplish. Although, on the other hand, it’s good that three buttons are responsible for this function at once, because otherwise it would increase the chance to press it accidentally and when it is completely unnecessary. And gamers who have suffered from the “Win” key will most likely understand me.

However, it is still interesting why Bradley chose these three keys to work, and not others.
