Portal Internet Archive decided to please fans of classical computer games and opened a special section for gamers in which you can find more than 2300 games and immediately launch them right in your browser window.
Internet Archive is an American non-profit organization that aims to collect, catalog and provide open access to various digital content for all comers. Founded in 1996, this organization is already a huge help for numerous researchers, historians, students and just wanting to remember "how it was."
This time, the holiday happened on the street fans of classic video games, because in the open access were more than 2300 computer games, including such immortal hits as Prince of Persia, Wolfenstein 3D, Dune 2, Sim City, Leisure Suit Larry, The Lost Vikings the first Blizzard games), Metal Gear, Transport Tycoon, Pac-Man and many, many others.
If you want, you can play any of these games right in your browser window, as the site has an EM-DOSBOX emulator installed. As the project managers note, they spent a lot of time collecting this library and making the games work directly in the user's Internet browser. Of course, the emulation may not be perfect, and while the project is running in beta test mode, but personally I immediately rushed and launched Dune 2 to remember the youth.
