Microsoft Corporation in its official blog published a small teaser of what awaits us during the conference GDC-2014, entirely devoted to the development of video games. It seems that Microsoft is ready to demonstrate to the world a new generation of graphics technologies in the face of DirectX 12.
The next version of the popular graphic API of the Redmond corporation will be presented to the world very soon - on March 20. We remind you that the previous version of API number 11 was released four and a half years ago in July 2009. DirectX 11, among other things, gave video game developers the possibility of using shader model 5.0, which opened up new possibilities for implementing many graphic effects.
What will please developers of games DirectX 12 - we learn very soon. But now we can assume that Microsoft will do its best to promote its cloud services. During the marketing of their Xbox One gaming console, which is also based on the DirectX API (the Xbox name was originally derived from the name of DirectX), the Redmond community boasted that 300,000 dedicated servers could easily calculate the complex ray-tracing lighting model remotely, making the graphics in the game incredibly realistic. Many skeptics then only smiled. Let's see what Microsoft will be able to surprise us with real examples.
Alternatively, DirectX 12 will offer developers an alternative to the recently announced AMD Mantle technology, which works with graphics hardware at the lowest level access, allowing for incredible graphics quality from a fairly mediocre video processor.
The name of the conference GDC stands for Game Developers Conference. This annual event, which opened its doors for the first time back in 1988, is attended by thousands of video game developers from dozens of countries around the world. This year the conference will begin on March 17 and will last 4 days until March 21. Microsoft's presentation at the conference, as I said above, is scheduled for March 20, so make this date in your diaries - it should be very interesting.
