The process of creating cartoons has long gone from the usual drawing and animation of characters. Now the animated film is the result of the most complicated calculations and computer modeling, which draws the smallest details that the viewer will enjoy. According to the studio of Disney, at the moment they created the cartoon Big Hero 6, which will become the most expensive painting in its genre.
The actions of the painting will take place in a city containing 83,000 buildings, 260,000 trees, 215,000 street lamps and 100,000 cars. All this a huge number of objects will have to be generated by computer programs, so that the viewer can feel the maximum effect while watching the cartoon.
In order to realize what was conceived, Disney specialists decided to resort to the help of a supercomputer. More precisely, the picture was created on four computers located in different geographical locations, but in total they had 55,000 cores, which were engaged in rendering video.
In addition, specialists had to create from scratch the video rendering system Hyperion, which was engaged in processing a huge amount of material. According to the creators, Hyperion will generate 10-20 light sources without any effort, whereas earlier this work required a lot of time and effort.
