The manufacturer of the popular Raspberry Pi released an updated version of the mini-computer. The new Raspberry Pi 2 promises six times more performance than the first model. The microcomputer, developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation in Britain, is no larger than the usual bank card. The device was conceived as a low-cost alternative to a personal computer designed to popularize computer science in schools.
Last summer, the company said that since the launch of Raspberry Pi (February 2012), more than three million devices have been sold. In total, four versions of Raspberry Pi were released, namely Model A, Model A +, Model B and Model B +. All of them work on the Broadcom BCM2835 processor.
The main difference between Raspberry Pi 2 is the use of a new Broadcom BCM2836 chip with four cores of Cortex A7, as well as 1 GB of RAM, which is twice the previous best configuration.
The company said that Raspberry Pi 2 will get support for Windows 10 after "working closely with Microsoft." A compatible version of the operating system will be available for free to developers. The windows.com website says that it will be a version for devices from the "Internet of things" category. This means that there is no support for the standard Windows 10 interface.
The founder of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, Eben Upton, says that Raspberry Pi 2 will cost as much as Model B + costs now, which is $ 35. According to him, 100 000 units of Pi 2 are already waiting for their customers, and the capacity of the Sony plant allows producing "one thousand copies per day".

No less interesting mini-computer was created in Poland. Local engineers came up with a PC inside a computer mouse.
