Russian developers have introduced a system for storing extremely large amounts of data

We have already talked about the simulator of virtual reality, and now it's time to tell about the newest storage system for extremely large amounts of data created on the basis of the National Informatization Center (NCI) .

The solution, designed with the use of domestic high technologies, is called Secure Data Storage System (DAM) and meets the highest requirements for safety and reliability. The volume of stored information is from several petabytes (in one petabayte 1024 terabytes) to tens of exabytes (one exabyte equals 1024 petabytes, respectively).

The platform can be used in law enforcement agencies and other executive authorities to store and process information, including state secrets. The application can be found in scientific organizations, as well as in commercial companies working with large data sets. But that's not all! Domestic development can become a technological basis in the project of creating the Russian infrastructure of the "Internet of Things".

According to the Director General of the NCI, Konstantin Solodukhin:

"We have created a technology platform that can be used to implement a number of projects of national scale, which require the storage of large and very large amounts of data. For example, for building complex security systems, creating a solution for "Smart City", full informatization of medicine and so on. "

The device of the system looks no less interesting: it is possible to create both object storage systems and distributed ones within the framework of ZAS. Using ZASH greatly reduces the risk of information loss and maximizes the reliability of the system. It is performed on a fault-tolerant scheme: in the event of an accident, recovery takes place within 15 minutes without stopping access to the data. Moreover, with the help of the development of domestic specialists, it is possible not only to securely store information and increase the speed of access to it, but also to reduce the cost of maintaining the infrastructure through the introduction of advanced domestic developments and the use of equipment localized by the Joint Instrument-Making Corporation .

The technological platform is based on the Aurora operating system, developed by specialists of the National Information Center. Aurora is a protected GNU / Linux operating system that meets all information security requirements. The system supports iSCSI data access protocols and methods, NFS 4.x and CIFS / SMB 2.1, object access using Cinder, Manila and Swift methods, Hadoop DFS API, including the Apache Map Reduce API.
