In Asus decided to make life easier for gamers and are going to release a modular PC ROG Avalon, who can do everything. The novelty was demonstrated at the Asian IT-exhibition Computex 2016. In general, the computer is not quite modular, because a proprietary motherboard will be replaced - it is an integral part of the design itself. The power supply is also good, but it's not so easy to replace it - in ROG Avalon, he calls in his place on a special sled, and the wires coming from him to the rest of the computer are carefully laid on special cable channels directly at the manufacturer's factory. Yes, water cooling also goes on board and is built in tightly.

"Modularity is so-so" - says experienced gamers in upgrades. The left side of the case is separated by a video card. There is enough room for "vidyukha" not to suffocate and not to overheat from the heat generated by other components.

Another interesting feature of the Asus systemman is the replaceable rear panels, which allow selecting the most suitable connectors for the user, so the owner is not limited in their choice, as is the case with a conventional motherboard. Need two gigabit ports? The required dice are taken and put - both ports are in place. More USB ports? You are welcome. There is also such. There are three to choose from: Workstation, Home Theater and Virtual Reality.

The concept is clearly promising, but the lack of an opportunity to replace the motherboard is depressing. Processors can be changed for a long time, and then a new processor will appear on sale on a more modern socket and everything, you have to buy a new Avalon. Actually, this is the calculation. But it looks cool, and the replacement of components is not so dreary as before, the occupation.
