Reusable rocket carriers, space vehicles, payment systems, unmanned electric vehicles, machines for drilling tunnels under densely populated cities, high-speed vacuum railways. It would seem that Ilon Mask tried himself in almost everything. But the entrepreneur still does not calm down. Here and this time his new company Neuralink will work by creating a way to connect the human brain to the computer.
According to a publication in the Street Wall Journal, Ilon Mask founded a company whose employees are working on a very promising technology of combining the human brain with a computer. While the project is in the early stages of development, nevertheless, in the future, brain implants can become available to us, turning us into something similar to what we all saw in the films "Johnny Mnemonic" or "The Matrix". After all, who of us refuses to learn kung fu for a couple of minutes? Ilon Mask himself is sure that from a full-fledged neurocomputer interface mankind is separated only four to five years.
In fact, Mask already several times hinted at what is preparing to tell us about something very interesting. For example, not so long ago, during a speech in Dubai, he remarked: "After some time, we may become witnesses of combining biological intelligence with digital intelligence." And after Mask added: "Here everything depends on the bandwidth, the speed of the established connection between your brain and your computer."
In addition, in a personal Twitter account back in January of the current year, Mask, answering the questions of fans, admitted that he would very soon share with them information about the so-called "neural lace" technology. So in science fiction called neurocomputer interfaces. While all this really sounds too fantastic to be true. But the first steps in this direction have been made for several years already. For example, patients with neurodegenerative diseases in the brain implanted arrays of electrodes to stimulate the symptoms with stimulation.
Above the fantastic technology works not only Ilon Mask. The founder of the startup Kernel, as well as the co-owner of the company Braintree, Brian Johnson is also working on something similar since 2013. Johnson has invested in research more than $ 100,000,000 out of his pocket and has made considerable progress. In his company, dozens of first-class neurobiologists and software engineers work. But their primary task is still the fight against neurodegenerative diseases, and not just creating a bundle of "man -
a computer". To achieve all this Johnson plans by making the human brain faster and smarter when it is connected to a digital network.
Neuralink was founded in July last year in California. If you believe the documents, she will be engaged in medical research. The human brain hides in itself a lot of riddles, answers to which scientists seek for decades. Perhaps, the beginning of Ilona Mask will accelerate this process a little, and our descendants will be able to connect quickly and painlessly to their computers.
