Shanghai Zhaoxin Semiconductor has teamed up with Lenovo Group and several other PC manufacturers to start manufacturing its own chips that can compete with American products.

Representatives of Shanghai Zhaoxin Semiconductor reported Shanghai Daily, that at the moment almost all computer chips on the market are produced by American companies Intel and AMD, so the development and production of own products of such a plan is important.

Now the company does not set itself the goal of completely replacing the American chips with its own, but the president of the company Yi Jun believes that the opportunity to provide the buyer with an alternative is very important. By 2018, it is planned to sell about a million computers with chips of its own production.

Over time, it will be possible to increase the volume, especially in the light of recent news that the PC market is no longer a priority for Intel. The company is restructuring, reducing staff and is going to focus on servers, artificial intelligence, unmanned vehicles and virtual reality.
