Following its main competitor NVIDIA, AMD arranged a presentation for its journalists of its new video card. Novelty was Radeon RX480 based on GPU Polaris, and it is fully capable of meeting the needs of the most spoiled gamers and VR enthusiasts. The most amazing thing about this whole story is that the new video card will cost only $ 199. For comparison: Geforce GTX 1070 costs 379 dollars, and GTX 1080 - 599 dollars.
Radeon RX480 is capable of providing processing power of more than 5 teraflops. Recall that the GTX 1070 produces 6.5 teraflops at almost two times more. When two RX480s are used in the CrossFireX bundle, they work on the power of the GTX 1080 (9 teraflops), but their price in the aggregate is still lower than that of the NVIDIA flagship. Radeon RX480 will be available in two versions: with four and eight gigabytes of internal memory. The card supports Freesync technology, which will allow to normalize the frame rate, and also boasts support for DisplayPort 1.3 / 1.4.
Of course, the main advantage of the new AMD video card is its price tag. Still, $ 200 for this power - it's really funny money. For example, virtual reality headsets like Oculus Rift and HTC Vive require video cards that cost at least $ 300, and now on virtual reality you can easily save hundreds of bucks and not lose in performance. The novelty should be on sale on June 29 this year.
