IBM plans to actively use blocking technology to track the movement, shipment of goods and identify theft. IBM specialists are already actively working on studying the blockade and even create devices that support work with it. The first of these was a microcomputer, the size of which is comparable to a salt crystal, - the press service of IBM in the company's blog.
The developers note that the new microcomputer can be used in the "smart house" system, aircraft and automotive industry. Despite the fact that the power of the computer is quite small and comparable to the devices of the early 90's, it is equipped with a processor with several hundreds of thousands of transistors, a photodetector and a communication unit transmitting information using light. The price of such a microcomputer has not yet been officially announced, but, according to some sources, it will cost a little more than ten cents.
Detailed information about the "filling" of the device promised to be disclosed later.
The computer was shown at the IBM Think 2018 conference, where the company's representatives told about five promising technologies that will significantly change society and business over the next few years. One of such technologies was blockade. IBM developers place great hopes on it along with AI, quantum computing, cryptography and robotic microscopes.
